The Terms of Service have been updated with an effective date of December 15, 2023. A new "Limitation on Legal Action" clause has been added, requiring any legal claim to be filed within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred. The language regarding YouTube's right to remove content has been broadened, changing from a "reasonably believe" standard to a discretionary "in our discretion" standard. Additionally, the date for when payments are treated as royalties has been changed from June 1, 2021, to November 18, 2020.

Google has extended the effective date of the policy from October 1, 2026 to October 16, 2026. The policy now allows certain Google services, such as Search or Gemini Apps, to access data from other Google services like Google Photos and Workspace apps (Gmail, Drive) to provide a more personalized experience, including personalized ads, subject to the accessing service's policies and settings. Previously, Google stated it would not show personalized ads based on content from Drive, Gmail, or Photos; now it may do so if you choose to make that data available to other Google services that support personalized ads. A new "Personal Intelligence" feature is described, where data shared between services may be used to personalize your experience (e.g., Search using hotel booking details from an email).

The terms now explicitly authorize Google to process recurring electronic cash payments (e.g., debit card) and to withdraw funds as soon as the transaction date. If a payment fails, Google may collect from any saved payment method, and you agree not to dispute recurring charges that match the terms.
